Read-Only Memory or ROM is an integrated-circuit memory chip that contains configuration data.
Read-only memory is a class of storage media used in computers and other electronic devices. ROM is a type of memory that usually can only be read, as opposite to RAM which can be both read and written. There are two major reasons that read-only memory is used for definite functions within the PC: Permanence and Security.
Read Only Memory :
A simple kind of ROM can be constructed from a decoder, a MUX, and several wires. We will come across at a small (16 bit) ROM constructed in this way. Uually, memory is prearranged in a square array. To use the ROM to execute a logic function, the address lines are used as the changeable inputs, and the inside of the memory are the function values.
