Creating ROM chips completely from scratch is time-consuming and very luxurious in small quantities. Here mainly, developers shaped a type of ROM known as programmable read-only memory (PROM).
Short for programmable read-only memory, a memory chip on which data is able to be written only once. Once a program has been writing onto a PROM, it remnants there forever. Unlike RAM, PROMs retain their stuffing when the computer is turned off.
A PROM and A ROM :
The difference between a PROM and a ROM is that a PROM is manufactured as empty memory, whereas a ROM is automatic during the manufacturing process. To write data onto a PROM chip, you require a special device called a PROM programmer or PROM burner.
